Resident Evil 2 Story
Resident Evil 2 is a survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. The game was released in 1998 and is the second game in the Resident Evil series.
The game takes place in Raccoon City, a midwestern American town that has been overrun by the Umbrella Corporation's T-virus. The player assumes the role of either Leon S. Kennedy, a rookie police officer on his first day of duty, or Claire Redfield, a college student searching for her brother Chris.
As the two characters navigate through the city, they encounter a variety of zombies and other creatures created by the T-virus. Along the way, they meet other survivors, including Ada Wong, a mysterious woman who claims to be looking for her boyfriend, and Sherry Birkin, the daughter of a scientist who has been infected with the virus.
As the game progresses, the player learns that the virus was accidentally released from the Umbrella Corporation's laboratory beneath the city, and that the company has been conducting illegal experiments on the citizens of Raccoon City.
In the game's final act, the player confronts the game's primary antagonist, William Birkin, a scientist who was exposed to the virus and transformed into a monstrous creature. The player must defeat Birkin and escape from the city before it is destroyed by a missile strike.
The game's multiple scenarios, which feature different puzzles and enemy placements, depend on the character the player chooses to play as first. Upon completion of both scenarios, the player unlocks the "true" ending, in which the fates of the main characters are revealed.
Resident Evil 2 is often praised for its intense atmosphere, memorable characters, and innovative gameplay mechanics, including its "zapping" system, which allows the player's choices in one character's scenario to affect the other character's story.
